A Family Shoemaking Tradition from Mallorca

The story of Carmina begins in 1866 in Inca, the Mallorcan town long known as the island's city of leather. There, the Pujadas family took up the shoemaker's trade and passed it down from parent to child, generation after generation. What started as a small local workshop grew into one of Spain's most respected shoemaking houses, yet the essence never changed: shoes cut, lasted and finished by hand in Mallorca. Handmade Shoes and Goodyear Welt Construction

Every pair of Carmina shoes is built the traditional way: handcrafted uppers of fine leather, stitched to the sole with a genuine Goodyear welt. This construction method, the benchmark of traditional shoemaking, allows each pair to be resoled again and again, so a well-kept pair of handmade shoes can accompany its owner for decades. It is the reason Spanish shoemakers like Carmina are counted among the finest makers of luxury footwear in the world.

The World of Carmina Shoes

Two signatures of the house: shell cordovan and shoes made to order.

Cordovan Shoes

Shell cordovan is one of the rarest and most prized leathers in shoemaking, taken from a small oval on the horse's hindquarters and tanned slowly over months. Carmina has become internationally recognized for its cordovan shoes: loafers, oxfords, derbies and boots with a depth of color and a patina that only improves with age. For many collectors of fine footwear, cordovan is the leather most closely associated with the Carmina name.

Made-to-Order (MTO)

Beyond the permanent collection, Carmina offers a Made-to-Order service that lets each customer configure their own pair: choosing the last, the leather, the sole and the finishing details. Each MTO pair is then handcrafted in the family factory in Inca following the same Goodyear-welted process as the main collection — a personal shoe, built on more than 150 years of craft.

Craftsmanship, Leather and Timeless Design

Fine leathers, classic lasts and Goodyear welt construction, brought together in shoes designed to outlive fashion.

Carmina's workshop works with carefully selected calf leather, suede and shell cordovan, shaped over lasts refined across generations. Men's and women's leather shoes alike — dress shoes, loafers, boots — are handmade in Spain following the Goodyear welt method, in which the upper, welt and sole are stitched together for durability and easy resoling. The result is handmade footwear in the purest tradition of Spanish shoemaking: timeless design, honest materials and construction meant to last.
